Mr. Lizahd is in de yahd!

was the beginning of turtle nesting season, and we were building a new camp.  The leaves that we were collecting in some of the pictures would soon be the roofs to the huts.
That big white thing is a blue whale skull.
We were shoving large sticks into the ground because they needed somewhere to tie up the boats.
The big sea turtle was a female green who was just returning to the sea after a “false crawl” – she came up and dug a hole, but went back without laying any eggs.  We were holding on to her in order to measure and tag her.  They are strong!
The tracks are green sea turtle tracks.
We bought that small tortoise from a meat market on the way in – he was gonna be soup :(
The reason I am napping so often is that all the sea turtle action happens at night.  We would usually go on two patrols for nesting turtles every night.
I did not meet my goal of machete proficiency.  Oh, well.
